These work rather well

update 2/2023 second, better picture. The norm during high season. Picture taken summer 2022. They work, it just takes months. Then again, our infestation may not be as bad as others.update 5/2022 they work, see picture. I've seen them fuller; it's not the full season yet. I put fresh ones out today, first pictured has been out since Jan, not full season yet.Update: I still hate the green covering, but after having seen a couple of moths this month (Jan 2022) I put new ones throughout the house. The old ones had at least 30 moths each, though I expect they haven't been effective for some time. It may be time to buy more, as moth season isn't even here yet. They say they last 3 months; I suspect shorter but then again I have forced air heat and a/c, which disperses the aroma away from the unit.Orig: I bought these last year, then bought another brand (DrK) this year. I'm going to buy another batch of these because they worked better. Unless it's the time of the infestation; last year was in June, I put the other brand out in Feb of this year, so maybe the infestation wasn't as bad in Feb. I don't think they last as long as they say they do, so I put a fresh one next to the first one after a month. Last year, the ones in the bedroom caught like 30 moths each. It takes a while to figure out where to place them. Near a nightlight or a glowing clockface seems to work well for night capture. I set them up away from forced air heating or a/c. This generation is of uglier appearance; last year they were dark and didn't stand out like I expect these electric green ones will. But these give more traps for the money compared to other brands, and they seemed to work better.

These Work Crazy-Good

Over the past year the moths have found my clothes and I've lost so many favorite wool, cashmere, and silk items.A friend suggested these and they are absolutely incredible - I would never have thought anything so simple could work so well.I open the package, shape them into little tents and put one on each shelf in my closet. And the rest is magic. When there are moths they stick to the adhesive and die.I've finally (almost) gotten rid of all the moths because these will NOT get rid of the newly developed moths already dining on your clothes. You also need be proactive by* dry-cleaning/washing all the clothes,* checking every piece of silk, wool, etc. (even if it only has 5% silk) for moths, chrysalis, larvae and baggingthose items in air proof bags until they get to the trash,* washing all the shelves with a vinegar/water mixture. Now I use these as a preventative alarm to let me know if I missed something or somehow brought another moth into the closet (dang it!).BTW, these last a long time - I date each one as I open so I can remember to toss it after a few months. It's such a great feeling to toss these when there are no longer moths caught on the adhesive..

Like a magnet for the male moths! Ordering more today!

We are in a battle against clothing moths in a particular part of our home and are doing our best to eliminate them and stop their spread into other parts of our home. This trap is new to us after using another brand for about 2-3 years. As the photo shows, they have been very effective in attracting the male moths with the phernome strip. It tells us that we obviously still have a problem and that though we deep cleaned, we probably weren't able to vacuum all of the existing chrysalis from the nooks and grannies of the old wood floor. (Not in your battle that the "glue" God gave them in which they use to attach themselves/the developed chrysalis to is strong! So much so that some which I tried to vacuum with shop vac from the flange around a plastic storage container held fast to the rim unless I wiped it with a cloth or plucked it with my hand). I am submitting my request for a free gift package of these from the company (thank you!) AND ordering some more for our arsenal. No, it doesn't stop the invasion, but if we can keep them from mating, then it will help! Just FYI, the white powder seen in the photo on the rug is diatomaceous earth which we have over the entire floor, around the edges of the room, and in/under the carpet in hopes of irritating and then killing the new larvae if the moths have laid more eggs. The rug has already been heavily damaged (in a classic spot under a large trunk at the end of the bed) where it was dark) and along some of the edges of the rug.

Very Effective

It's shocking how many moths this caught. I hadn't even realized I had a problem. I do now.

The Terminator of moth traps!

These work! Cedar blocks were not cutting it at all and I won’t use moth balls. I kept finding little holes in my clothes and would occasionally see a tiny moth flying around. Most of my clothing consists of natural fabrics like linen and cotton and the little buggers were feasting on them. Bought the first box of these about a year ago. For the first couple of months, no action. Then, suddenly I found tiny moth carcasses in the traps and over time more and more! I recently replaced the traps in Feb. and haven’t seen any moths trapped since! I never did locate where the infestation was in my closet, so I will continue to keep these traps in my closets.

These work great at a serious price advantage

I have been very impressed with these items. Tried them as an alternative to the more expensive Bug Md ones. Did a side by side comparison with a new batch of them and they seemed to be more effective and have a higher capture rate than the Bug Md ‘s at less than half the costOur old dalmatian began to have accidents on our wool throw rugs and I had to use the carpet cleaner a lot, Apparently moths got into the damp fibers and had laid eggs so now we have to capture them and remove the moths. Had never used those before but both are very effective at attracting and capturing the adult moths…… These work just as well for more for a significant price advantage and more per boxDoing a great job of getting rid of the adult moths

Eewww! So wonderfully gross!

I have used these 4 years running and look forward to seeing the nasty little moths attracted to their sticky death. The photos others have posted look like mine after a spring/summer season. Hundreds of moths are stuck to every trap. GROSS and very satisfying! Makes me wonder about my housekeeping, or lack thereof. They are highly effective!

It Really Really Works!

This product worked great. Within the first couple of minutes I had several tiny moths. I had a wool blanket that had been in storage and I even had it dry cleaned but I noticed these little moths flying around the I identified with some research as Cloth moths. The blanket is gone but it has been a week and I am still catching these tiny moths. I wish it came with a little paddle stick though because I can't stand to see the little buggers suffer as the sit there for hours waiting to die so I have to smoosh them right away. I highly recommend these moth traps.

They work for male moths!

I've been trying out various pheromone moth traps in my fibre studio over the past couple of years. There are clear winners, and this brand is one. I have three traps hanging a couple of feet apart on my storage shelves and this single trap (Ecotastic) caught over 30 moths, the Dr Killigan trap around 25. I have trapsI recently ordered a batch of parasite moths to - hopefully - take care of the moth eggs. Be aware that the traps only attract the male moths, so if any of them get past it to a female, eggs will still be laid!I recommend this brand!

They do the trick

Let me precede this review by saying I struggle with not wanting to harm insects (I mean, they deserve to live, too). I will catch a spider or cricket and gently transport it outside, but the moth situation in my house is a little different…Like many an air b n b out there, I have had some very destructive house guests. They’ve made themselves a little *too* comfortable, what with infiltrating my closets and worming their way into the zipper-sealed bags I bought to try to keep them out of my freshly-laundered things. We won’t even mention how they frequently dive-bomb me out of nowhere and how they torment my cat by flying around *just* out of his reach. I swear I can hear little “nya nya, you can’t catch me” taunts, sometimes.I gave them fair warning that this “living together thing” just hasn’t been working for me. Although I am not thrilled to have to resort to using these contraptions, my housemates didn’t take the hints I’d been dropping that maybe it was time for them to move out (and take their extended family and friends with them).I’ve set up a couple of these traps around the house, and a few of the little, um, buggers have apparently checked into their new microtels.Does anyone else hear the opening strings of Hotel California? Just me? Ok.

They work. ...but do they?

I bought several different brands of Closet Moth Traps to make sure that I had a decent chance of getting a quality product. I purchased:MaxGuard,Ecotastic,Trap-A-Pest, andDr Killigan’sI even got a pantry moth trap as well, to verify if I had any of those.Amongst 7 rooms (2 bedrooms, 2 closets and 3 bathrooms) I put multiple brands in each room, with each brand in at least 4 different rooms. For 3 months I’d check every trap once a week. Each trap had more moths than the week before (except for the pantry moth trap – the 4 of those I deployed caught one moth just by chance). The numbers of moths caught in each trap were surprising. No brand failed to catch at least 40 on at least one trap.So now I’m moth-free, right?Wrong. These traps lure in just the male moths. So if any male moth happens to mate with a female before being captured, there’s another fresh batch. I’ve been waging moth war for almost 2 years, and use other trap types as well (zappers, etc). There are a lot fewer of them flying around now, but I just can’t knock them out.I also kept some of each brand, and deployed them 1 year after purchase. NONE of those did well. Out of 16 traps, only 5 moths were caught. So I would recommend buying a new batch of traps every 6 months – deploying half right away, and the other half in 3 months.I checked all boxes for a manufacturing date. None had any on the outside. Dr. Killigan’s had one on the inside flap. Dr. Killigan’s also stated they would be good up to 3 years after manufacture (lies).Recommendations:They are all effective if used right away. Buy the one whose price or design you like. My design preference is MaxGuard and Dr. Killigan’s.If you are not having success, maybe you have different kinds of moths. Or you have expired traps.Hints on use for all brands:Write the date on it before you expose the glue.Bend the cardboard at least a little on the creases before exposing the glue – bending it afterward can cause sticky fingers. When pulling the paper off of the glue, start at one corner and firmly pull towards the opposite corner. Pulling from the center of the top makes it more difficult.

Peace of mind

I had a horrible moth problem in my past, and so when I saw one or two moths fluttering about recently I freaked. Not sure where they came from or if they were even clothes moths, but regardless I did a deep cleaning of all closets, mothballed items for a few weeks, and then aired everything out. It was a lot of work. After the purge I installed these moth traps. They are easy to set up. Unlike mothballs and cedar, they trap moths on sticky substances that you can inspect. I would not rely on them for a serious infestation but I use them as my early alert system in case any critters introduce themselves in future clothing purchases. The one inconvenience is that they are 4" square and 4" high - they fold out like a small moth "pup tent" and you need to have room for them on a shelf or rod. They use moth-enticing hormones that eventually fade so you also need to replace them periodically.

They may not work if you don't clean up the main moth nesting site first!

I had a major moth infestation secretly taking over the wool lining of the under-bed storage of my king bed. So when I put these traps out and I only saw one or two moths after a week, I thought they don't work at all! I had hundreds of moths that were laying eggs under my bed and elsewhere in the house so killing only one or two a week wasn't going to put a dent in their population. The under-bed wool storage was prime moth real estate! But it was a huge undertaking to remove all the wool lining, so until I had the time to do it, I thought these traps might help in the interim. No, they were useless. Okay, now flash forward to after I removed the wool lining from the bed storage. I also vacuum sealed all our wool clothes, cleaned and stored our wool carpets, etc etc. I would still see a few surviving moths flying around. And that's when the TRAPS WORKED! My theory is that when I had the huge moth utopian breeding real estate under my bed, it probably smelled very strongly like females to the male moths. So they were attracted to that strong scent under the bed. A little dinky synthetic phermone moth trap wasn't going to deter them from the real thing! It's like having an adult video store next door to a brothel. Why bother! But once I removed the main breeding site, the male moths were so desperate to find females and they flocked to the traps and I was able to kill the last remaining moths!Other Tips: My moth infestation was enormous and I refused to use toxic chemicals. I had considered hiring a professional exterminator but all the reviews said the moths come back eventually. I believe this is because they don't do a thorough job. Even if you hire a professional, you still need to bag up and clean all your wool & fur items yourself. It's a ton of work. But even then, moths are crazy resilient and will survive on the tiniest little fur ball of wool debris or pet hair. So if you have pets like I do, then any crack in the baseboard or the space under your appliances likely has a build up of pet hair, maybe some human hair too, and wool sheddings from carpets or clothes. I even found moths breeding inside the filter of my vacuum because it had cat hair and wool carpet sheddings! So to win the war, you need to thoroughly clean all these crevices and spaces regularly for several months. I used a special vacuum hose attachment and a super-sized pipe cleaner to clean under my fridge, stove, dishwasher, laundry machines etc (purchased on amazon). I also vacuumed my wool carpets every week (flipped them over and vacuum the backside as well). Moths don't like to breed on surfaces that are regularly disturbed or exposed to light. So even if you have wool carpets and pillows, just make sure to shake them up every week and vacuum them. Finally, I took diatomaceous earth (or you can use borax powder) and I used a duster (small plastic bottle that puffs the powder) to inject the powder under my appliances, into any crevices or holes in baseboards, and under the toe kick of my kitchen cabinets and bedroom closets. So far this is working great for me and I haven't seen a moth in 2 months.Last note, I used these traps as well as a more expensive trap with a slightly better review by West Bay Retail (on amazon). They both worked after the bed wool removal and they both failed before I addressed the bed wool. But since these were so much more affordable, I stuck with these traps. It's better to use more traps rather than just a few expensive ones especially since they seem to have the same effectiveness.

I have opinions
Took a bit, but they work!

I set these up and thought they weren't working at all. I would see a moth on the wall and put the trap around it. The moth had no interest. But then they got interested, and met their doom. I have 3 traps set up and they all have moths in them. They're extremely simple to set up and no stench like mothballs. The only downside is I have to see how many moths I have :( But I'd rather they be in the traps than in my clothes! Pro tip: set a trap up somewhere that you can shine a light into it. They can't resist!I tried another brand with a little scent square that you slip into the triangle. It caught a few moths, but nothing like Ecotastic. I've both these at least 2x. Maybe eventually I'll catch all the little pests, but until that glorious day I'll keep buying these traps.

sure traps moths!

easy to use. Don't last long (3 months) but that seems about the same as most others. When we had a real problem the traps caught tons of moths. Since then we have been keeping the traps around to stop any new infestation (traps don't seem to be 100% effective since a few moths continue to return) and it picks up a few every time. I don't know if they will ever be 100% effective since our house is huge, with closets and clothes and towels and linens and 4 messy kids, but it definitely keeps the population WAY down over the original. One note: they used to come with an obvious second material (the lure) stuck to the adhesive. My last batch came without that second material and I don't know if it was a manufacturing error or they have now built the lure into the adhesive itself. I will update this review if i find out. (I suppose if this new batch of traps never catches a moth, then the lure was missing?).Update: Got in contact with the manufacturer and they confirmed that the lure has been added to the adhesive now, so all is good. Having that confirmation, I am now giving these 5 stars since they do everything I can expect from them.

It works! (Added update)

Last year, I had a sudden, massive clothes moth infestation that caused significant damage. Never happened before in 20 years. I treated with Tempo, an insecticide, to stop it. It worked. In early August of this year, I repeated the Tempo treatment as a precaution. A couple of weeks later, I read an excellent article about clothes moths in The Guardian that mentioned traps. I bought these to serve as "sentinels" and alert me to the presence of clothes moths. Two days later, I caught my first moths in 4 traps. I appreciate the advance warning. I plan to monitor the situation and take action as appropriate. But it's great to know which rooms are at risk and be able to monitor the level of infestation. Great product.July 2020: I bought two more boxes of traps this year, and I continue to be very happy with the product. My infestation is under control, but those things can flare back. So having traps throughout my house gives me real-time information about the location and intensity of any resurgence. I can then spot-treat with an EPA-approved insecticide for clothing moths (I use Tempo SC Ultra purchased on Amazon) and it works beautifully. Great product.May 2021: I bought three more boxes of traps to continue my monitoring program this year. Within days, they detected two emerging loci of infection in places where I didn't expect them. It allowed me to react quickly and keep the moths under control before causing extensive damage. If you have rugs, tapestries, or woolens in your house, these traps are a lot cheaper than replacing them.
